RUBY CHEN (b. 2001) is an interdisciplinary artist with a focus in intermedia sculptures inspired by prehistoric vessels and brutalist architecture. Her characteristic meticulous layering of plaster evokes anthropomorphic qualities while simultaneously exploring an abstract visual experience. Fascinated by humanity's innate primal instincts, Chen inquiries how organic human connection exist in a society obsessed the machine and its technological advancements. Concerned with humanities' idealized state versus intrinsic attraction to capital, the artist constructs works which exude faux futurism and non-functionality.
Chen’s works were a part of the Komune group exhibition, and is currently exhibiting with LUmkA, NYC. The artist's work can be found in various international private collections.
